Go-karting is a proud American tradition. With its roots in California in the 1950s, this activity has captivated the hearts and minds of Americans all over the country. Millions of people young and old come together to race go-karts together. If you’re trying to partake in this great American tradition yourself, and you’re in the Jacksonville area, you’ve probably found yourself wondering “where are go-karts near me?” Fortunately, Jacksonville has a wonderful place you can go-karting with your friends, family, co-workers, date, or anyone else you might want to get a race in with.
Going Fast
There is no shortage of things to do in Jacksonville. Go-Karting is one of the best. Go-kart racing has few things more important than how fast you can go. Races aren’t all that exciting if you’re only going a few miles an hour. Well, at Jacksonville’s indoor go-karting course they use Italian third-generation go-karts that have 20 horsepower and can go up to 50 miles per hour. That’s almost fast enough to go on the freeway in some places in the country!
The karts are also designed to be easily driven by anyone, beginner or pro. They have differential axles which make steering easy. That means that you could find an unlikely foe in a beginner racer that you have a hard time keeping up with.
This course is also specifically designed for racing. It can hold up to 10 karts per race, so the odds are that at least one of the people on the course will be able to give you the challenge you’re looking for. The course also uses sensors that can give you your lap times with pinpoint accuracy. With those sensors, you’ll always know the results of a race within 1/100th of a second. That small amount of time is called a centisecond, and it is faster than the human eye can process.
Staying Safe
When it comes to go-karting the only thing more important than going fast is staying safe, and Jacksonville’s indoor go-kart racing track is very well aware of this. They’ve taken many precautions to ensure that all of their patrons will have the safest and most fun time possible.
Many of the precautions they’ve taken occurred before they even opened their doors to the public. They started off by doing a lot of research to ensure that they found the safest karts they could. That’s why the karts they decided to go with are designed to be weighted in such a way that the risk of tipping or flipping is virtually non-existent. On top of that, each kart is fitted with a roll bar to further lower the chance of a tip or flip.
All karts also have a four point safety harness. These are there to ensure that you stay in the kart in the case of a collision. Their guard rails are also designed to help with collisions, but those are actually made to help lessen the impact if you accidentally run into them.
On top of all of that, their electric karts don’t put out any emissions, so you don’t have to worry about breathing in any exhaust fumes while hanging out inside of their facility.
Taking Part in American History
Go-karting has a very proud history in the United States, and every time you go go-karting you’re playing a role in it’s continued existence in the US. No matter the reason you enjoy go-karting, it’s been around for almost 70 years at the time of writing, and it’s likely to be around for a very long time to come. Always make sure that the place you’re going to values your safety just as much as you do, and have a great time during your next go-kart outing.
